Celebrities Who Met Their Partner On Social Media

The phenomenon of internet dating has taken the world by storm. It’s no longer strange to reveal that you met your partner online rather than in a bar or out and about in the real world. With apps such as Tinder, this notion of internet dating has been made even easier and much quicker. The idea of meeting people online has even spread to social media platforms where it’s not uncommon for people to meet on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Snapchat. Someone may see a picture or a post that someone put up and decide to message them. Often, this may lead to the people in question hitting it off, and before they know it, they are dating.
What is strange, however, is to hear that some celebrities out there, like mere mortals, have met their partners on social media. You may have just assumed that famous people would have no need to use social media as a way of finding someone to date, but the cases on this list prove that wrong. Some of the instances on this list involve celebs finding a regular person to date via the internet, and others show how the web is a useful tool for them to connect with other famous people they want to date.

15. Amber Rose And Wiz Khalifa

Amber Rose has had her fair share of relationships with those in the public eye; most notably, Kanye West. However, her longest lasting relationship was with rapper Wiz Khalifa. When Rose heard that Khalifa had revealed that she was his celebrity crush, she decided to contact him via social media in 2011. The pair soon met up, began dating, and eventually married in 2013. The pair had a happy marriage for a short period of time but after the birth of their son, Sebastian, in 2014, the couple announced that they were separating and going their separate ways. The pair were officially divorced last year in 2016.

14. Aly Raisman And Colton Underwood

Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman began dating Oakland Raiders tight end Colton Underwood after he asked her out via a video posted online. After seeing the video, Raisman described it as being “very cute.” She also opened up in the past about how the two managed to meet for a date as they happened to have a perfect lineup in their schedules. “We happened to both be in Denver at the same time. I was there for less than 12 hours, he was flying in for just a few days. It just ended up working perfectly.” The pair hit it off and went on a few more dates before making it official. Unfortunately, the pair split 5 months after Underwood’s video was posted online.

13. Emilio Masella And Snooki

Before Snooki was Snooki and was known as the short party girl on Jersey Shore, she was simply known as Nicole Polizzi, a somewhat normal girl who liked to spend time looking for potential partners on Facebook, apparently. In fact, the reality star met her now ex-boyfriend Emilio Masella this exact way. Masella once spoke out about how he and Snooki met, “We met on Facebook over a year ago. We started talking online again before the show even started airing and started hanging out again.”

12. Jennette McCurdy And Andre Drummond

A while back, actress Jennette McCurdy revealed via the Wall Street Journal how she met her now former boyfriend, all thanks to the internet. She stated, “I logged on to Twitter and saw my timeline clogged with people telling me to follow @DRE_DRUMMOND_. Five tweets are easy to ignore; hundreds are not…I read the guy’s Wikipedia page…confronted by statistics and a bunch of basketball jargon, I gathered that he was gifted at basketball…and super, super tall.” McCurdy went onto reveal that she later checked out Drummond’s Instagram. “Judging by the amount of me related posts he had shared, it seemed he had been expressing his crush on me for quite some time. I found it sweet, gutsy, and flattering. It’s hard not to be impressed by a boy that will express his feelings for you in front of hundreds of thousands of people. I followed him back on Twitter and sent him a public message. We had a brief banter and then he sent me a private message with his phone number. Inevitably, I utilized it,” she said.

11. Bella Thorne And Gregg Sulkin

The next two stars on our list who met over social media are Bella Thorne and Gregg Sulkin. Throne and Sulkin had been friends for many years but it was due to social media that things got serious between the two. After flirting online with Sulkin by posting numerous photos of him on her Twitter, Bella’s fans encouraged her to date the actor. Shortly after this, the pair went public with their romance and dated for over a year. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out for the pair. Bella later took to Twitter to state, “Things just didn’t end up working the way we had hoped. But I’ll always love the bub.” Rumors that the pair may have reconciled began to surface earlier this year when the pair were spotted canoodling, but it seems that fans of the couple may have to wait to see if these guys will ever reconcile in the future.

Everything was going great for the lovebirds and they even got engaged in 2015 at Young’s 30th birthday bash. Nevertheless, it was heartbreak for Iggy later that year when a video surfaced online in which Young can be seen bragging about cheating on his fiancĂ©e. The video was proven to be real when Iggy took to her Twitter to reveal, “This is just like a second shot to the chest. And I feel like I don’t know who the hell it is I’ve been loving all this time. People in this world really are f—ked up.”

And the rest is history,” stated Rivera when she was asked about how the pair met. The couple began dating in April of 2013, and by October, they were so smitten with each other they became engaged. However, by the following April, the pair called it quits. Interestingly, a few months following their split, Rivera went on to marry her ex-boyfriend, Ryan Dosey, and as you may know, Big Sean went on to date Ariana Grande.

The tale of Jake T. Austin and Danielle Ceaser is one that will offer hope an inspiration to all fan girls out there. Danielle Ceaser spent five years messaging and tweeting Jake T. Brooks is said to have also tweeted Grande, and when her mother showed her the YouTube video, she encouraged the singer to give it a shot. This is exactly what Grande did, and the pair went on to date on and off for two years. They reached their first bump in the road in 2013 when Brooks accused Grande of cheating on him with Nathan Sykes. Grande denied these claims, saying that the YouTuber was just trying to get his “fifteen minutes of fame.” Despite these ugly claims on both sides, the pair managed to reconcile in 2014 and dated for a few months before finally calling it quits.

After this, the pair remained friends for years and even recorded a duet together, before eventually going on to begin dating in 2016. In Miller’s very first DM to Grande, he wished the singer a Happy Thanksgiving and asked if she would one day like to sing with him. Neither of the stars would have presumed at this point that they would go on to begin dating four years later. Miller and Grande’s relationship is still going strong today.

Although the pair have Twitter to thank for the beginning of their romance and a way for the two to make contact, it was also the platform on which they announced their breakup. The pair announced that they were separating on Twitter which was followed by a rather nasty feud, with both Harris and Ora sending tweets directed at one another that didn’t exactly contain loving and romantic sentiments. It’s clear that Harris is not great at ending relationships on good terms as his failed romance with Taylor Swift also seemed to end with the pair feeling resentment towards one another.
