Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil)
Milla Jovovich wooed us in "The Fifth Element", but we didn't see her action star potential until she became Alice in the "Resident Evil" series. With a fashion model's grace, a porcelain beauty, and spot-on moves, Alice is one of our favorite female action heroes yet.
Kate Beckinsale
Kate Beckinsale plays the vampire hero in 2003's Underworld. Her character, Selene, falls in love with a human. Would you take a vampire bite in exchange for an eternity of love with a never-aging Kate Beckinsale?
Elektra
Jennifer Garner's Elektra is a beautiful killer! We loved the onscreen chemistry between Garner and would-be husband Ben Affleck -- Who would win in a fight between Elektra and #19?
Miho (Sin City)
Devon Aoki plays Miho in the film adaptation of
Frank Miller's infamous graphic novel, Sin City. Miho is a call girl,
but if you get on her bad side you might end up impaled on her sword.
How much do you think she charges for that?
Aisha al-Fadhil (The Losers)
2010's live-action comic book adaptation The
Losers was largely overlooked by moviegoers. However, it's worth
watching just to see Zoe Saldana's character kicking some serious butt.
Abigal Whistler (Blade: Trinity)
Jessica Biel plays this hot vampire hunter in
the third and final Blade film. We don't know if we buy her as Kris
Kristofferson's daughter; how could someone so ugly have a child that's
so hot?
Max Guevara (Dark Angel)
Jessica Alba portrayed the sexy super-soldier in
James Cameron's TV series Dark Angel. She also portrayed Sue Storm in
both Fantastic Four movies.
Ripley (Alien)
Ridley Scott's classic 1979 sci-fi masterpiece,
Alien, is know for it's slow pacing. Thankfully we have Sigourney Weaver
as Ripley to keep us entertained during the slower moments.
Princess Leia (Star Wars)
You probably saw it coming, but there's no way
we could exclude her from the list. Carrie Fisher's iconic Star Wars
character is one of the hottest female action heroes of all time. Let's
just try and forget that she Frenched her on-screen brother . . .
Aeon Flux
Charlize Theron brought the MTV cult cartoon
heroine to life. The film is worth watching for her sexy acrobatics,
although they came at a cost; Charlize suffered a neck injury during
principal photography for the film.
Nikita
Maggie Q's reinterpretation of this contemporary
classic fills the gap that was left after the end of shows like "Alias"
and "Buffy" -- and she looks great doing it! Arguably one of the
hottest characters to wield any sort of weapon, Nikita is a bombshell.
Black Widow (The Avengers)
Scarlet Johansson's Black Widow in "Iron Man 2"
and "The Avengers" is by far one of the coolest female action hero roles
yet -- and we can't express just how much we love the makeover she gets
in "The Avengers". She makes a great redhead.
Dr. Jean Grey (X-Men)
Famke Janssen's portrayal of Dr. Jean Grey in
the X-Men movies is one of the hottest female action heroes to grace the
silver screen. Is being a cougar a superpower?
Charlie's Angels
Though the originals were just as attractive, we
can't help but favor the new millennium's trio -- Drew Barrymore,
Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu -- for giving audiences the hottest team of
butt-kicking female stars.
Lara Croft (Tomb Raider)
Angelina Jolie's onscreen interpretation of the
video game hero was highly anticipated in the early 2000s. Jolie brought
to the screen a tough and introspective Lara Croft who reminds us that
no one else wears that tank top better.
Wonder Woman
Lynda Carter's portrayal of Wonder Woman set the
bar high for future interpretations of this classic female American
superhero. There have been rumors for Megan Fox to play the character in
a new film production, but so far there's no new developments so we'll
still stick with the original.
Buffy
Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a 90s and early
2000s TV favorite for so many girls and boys around the world -- and we
have Sarah Michelle Gellar's multifaceted portrayal to thank for that.
"Buffy" paved the way for shows like "Alias" and "Nikita".
Catwoman
Not only is Halle Berry one of the hottest
cougars in Hollywood, but she was the hottest Catwoman. Berry flaunts
the character's agility and flexibility, all while looking dangerously
seductive.
Barbarella
One of the most influential cult films of all
time, "Barbarella" gave us one of Jane Fonda's most memorable
performances. As a sci-fi action hero, Fonda is electrifying as she is
mesmerizing. She's still our #1.
